When it comes to getting creative with flash, the price of the light isn’t always a reflection of what it can achieve. In this video photographer, Gavin Hoey takes on a low-cost lighting challenge by shooting high-key portraits in a small home studio.
Using just a white wall, a cheap net curtain, and a single Speedlight, Gavin shows you the best position for one flash, high key lighting and then applies that in two different ways. For the first style, Gavin simply covers the model with the net curtain. Next Gavin creates a tunnel of netting and photographs down the center.
After the shoot, Gavin takes you into Photoshop Camera RAW / Lightroom and passes on a simple tip to remove saturation from your model’s skin.
