One of the easiest ways to separate your subject from the background is by using a shallow depth of field. A portrait with a blurry background not only looks great but adds a sense of depth to your photo and it’s an effect that’s very achievable in a small home studio.
In this live-streamed photo session, Gavin Hoey will take you through some of his favorite ways to take portraits with a shallow depth of field. He’ll be working with continuous LED lights and small studio flashes to create the images and will discuss the best camera settings for both types of light.
Gavin will squeeze as many real-world DOF (depth of field) tips and tricks as he can into an hour. Join the conversation, get your questions answered live, and help steer the session… or just watch along and enjoy.
