Today I want to share my top 5 tips for beginner photography, from my own experience that significantly improved my photography skill, that you can start to apply today to improve your photos. These are practical tips that you can apply in real world, not just some snobbish tips like to use only pro level gear, to use expensive camera and lenses, or to shoot only in RAW or full manual. Regardless of what camera that you are using, even if you are only using smartphone, you can start to take better pictures right away by following my tips. I also share some sample pictures in this video for your enjoyment as well.

Thanks…I sometimes can get caught up in thinking through the results to much and adjusting my camera to get it to do what I want that I forget why I’m taking photos in the first place, (enjoyment)! While I do want to get great shots It’s also important that I enjoyed my time.

Great tutorial for beginers Gary!
Some other tips to add: blur your background (bokeh) if your purpose is to focus attention on the subject. But at other times, when taking an environmental portrait, make sure everything is im focus so that we see the subject (a person) in the context of everyday life.
Consider using leading lines to draw the viewers attention from the foreground through the midground to the background. These lines do not always have to be straight instead there can be arched lines or s-curves.
There are more tips of course. Maybe you want to take the additional suggestions you get here and in a few weeks make a new video of what to do when you (the viewer) has mastered or started to master many of your tips in this video ???
