As a professional photographer, I would think you would find enough inspiration and compositions to complete your challenge. And, what is up with all the talking while hunting for images? Damn annoying.

It's funny we live in the 21st century and people still haven't figured out photographers.
In the 'day' I had a Leica M2 and a backup IIIf (black dial). I also had a well used Leica A (scale focus, no rangefinder) which I used for water fights etc. for the school paper. I often focused a bit on the diagonal which is easier. Then the Leica lenses (50 and 90 Summicron, 21mm Super Angulon) were better than my other 35mm cameras but when I wanted quality, out came the view cameras. I retired from photography when digitals were toys but starting about 2006 decided it was better for me. You make fun of today's lesser cameras like the RP Canon but I would have given anything for a camera that capable in the 60's, especially if it came with free film and processing. Many earlier Leicas came with a collapsible lens which people would forget to extend making photos unrecognizable blobs. My M2 ($150 used in 1966) came from a store that had taken it back from a very unhappy guy who lost his entire European vacation to not pulling forward the lens. I sure wish I had never sold those three cameras. Check what the resale market is asking for them today. BTW, we always used 36 exposure rolls so you were just confused what you had loaded. That was a problem then since B&W prints from color film in Panalure really sucked. You had to shoot a roll that matched including ISO setting. Pushing Tri-X to 800 was about the same as 128000 today. Ansel Adams once said that 35mm photos on 32 speed film (then ASA, later ISO) and carefully processed could yield decent prints up to 5×7". Those were the good old days. As a challenge, you might try a 2 1/4 square like Rolleiflex just to see if you can tell right from left. If you pass that one, try a 5×7" Graphlex SLR.
I would put two or three lanyards on a $10,000 camera. Heck, I might actually get an M8 stud on my hand and screw that sucker on there with loctite.

Excellent! Perfect! The "boring parts" of the video are JP wandering around feeling awkward, lost, small talking, frustrated not finding shots…. And it's also so refreshing and encouraging for a n00b like me, so good seeing a photographer like this muddle through, and that it's not non-stop portfolio shots. Makes me feel like I could do that, which i suppose is the point.

Was this your first time with a rangefinder camera? If so, then I think you did a really good job. I like the way you communicate with the people. These cameras with or without screen and digital or analog need a little bit of practice. Originally this camera was a film testing device. But everyone that used it was amazed. It reduced the size of the camera from 4×5 inch to the size you just tested. So basically it’s the mirrorless camera of the 20 century! It’s the camera you would have chosen after a while, when you had the chance to. Maybe. So I love this format. Well done 👍
Just use Zone Focus man
An advantage to using a rangefinder is Zone Focusing. If you would have learned that technique, it would have been much easier, if not faster than a camera with autofocus.

And this is why I greatly respect Leica/Rangefinder shooters especially 35mm film photos cause you know it takes a certain kind of expertise to have bang on focusing and know you only have 24 or 36 in a roll.

For vertical, it's easier to establish focus horizontically (Fro-ism), then switch to vertical without moving your plane.
Its not that hard to use a rangefinderto be honest.
that is actually something different that you've done . really engaging end well… challenging .

Just like FILM days, you don't need to see what you are doing, just go take photos… and don't take pictures of any LAWYAHS.
The Leica M lenses don't send aperture information to the camera. The lenses are completely mechanical. The camera "guesses", which is why you see f3.4. Also, the bistro seemed to be more than 25 feet from you. Since the lens' max focus distance is 25 feet (anything beyond that is considered infinity), all you needed to do was turn the focus ring until it stoped (it has hard stops unlike AF lenses, but you knew that, right?). So there's no need to "focus", AND especially since you were shooting at f16. You could of just point-n-shoot. They call it a "rangefinder" for a reason: you can see THE RANGE of your subject on the lens. The lens also tells you your depth of field based on your aperture, so there's no guessing there. You talked a lot of smack for someone who doesn't "know".
