I have been photographing portraits of people for over 20 years and in that time I have developed a number of unique tips that can help you get the most from your subject, no matter who they are.
Knowing how to direct a model can make the difference between getting the shot and not getting it. Just knowing how to photograph a model is not enough, you need to learn the skills to help them feel comfortable in your presence. Learning to remove that barrier the camera creates between you and them can make the whole process much smoother and the result is better portraits.

My wife hates being photographed, really, really hates it, like nobody else does…but occasionally she’s prepared to allow a photo on her terms, and because those are genuine moments they’re great.
Its shocking how few comments there are here yet – too many photographers are sure their new Subiccino Carlos Fandango Signature 2-2,000mm asphercal f0.95 telescopic fisheye 'art lens' will get results no matter whats in front of it. I am an old, fat, Truck Driver with a love of looking at Renaissance and Pre-Raphaelite art.
I have visited Florence and walked around the many chapels therein and I have visited St. Peter's Basilica in The Vatican.
Of all things that have nearly brought me to tears there are a couple of things I regard most worthy of note:
