i do charcoal portrait drawing and been looking for a straight forward camera setup for this purpose, i found this dude, and bought his book, Paul Reid is now my go to for black and white portrait street photography.
A very interesting video which I throughly enjoyed, it’s also of great interest to me as I’m going to take black and white photos again. I will look at doing your online course before the end of the month and I really wish I could join you on one of your street courses.

You have made a great point, which you don’t hear often: connection. You are a 100% right! I love my 85-135mm range for specific use (concerts big events) and since I recently bought a Q2M I have been discovering that 28mm is surprisingly good for environmental portraits
sorry to ask, but the workshops or the online course are only for monochrome-camera shooters (the leica Ms, for instance)? or is also for common people (haha) with color cameras that like and convert to monochrome in post? thx!

The online course is a gem! I highly recommend it!
It’s true about shooting portraits at 75 or 90 mm, at least for me. You make a connection with the person and then you walk 15 feet away from them. I now don’t own anything beyond a 50.

I enjoyed this video. You answered a question that’s been on my mind about your portraits. 28mm does introduce distortion and it was interesting to hear how you limit it. Having said that I prefer your street photography as it is unposed.
I recently did a 5 week Motorhome trip "back home" to Manchester (I left many years ago, and now live in South West France). After much consideration of which camera bodies and lenses to take, I decided just to take my Fuji X100V, nothing else.
When you only have the one option, it becomes the best option.
I don’t like taking full body shots vertically with my 28 mm lens.
Agree 100%. I'm now carrying the three Q3's with pretty much identical setups. I have longer lens options with my Nikon Zf kit and love using that when required. 35mm crop on the 28mm is not a lot. Thanks and I look forward to your next review.
