In this video I talk you the process of creating beautiful backlit off camera flash portraits.
Not only is backlighting is one of the most visually impactful uses of off camera flash, but it is also one of the easiest and in this video I guide you through, step by step, my process for creating effective backlit off camera flash portraits.
All the photographs in this video were taken on a Sony A9III (huge thank you to my friend Phil Eagland for kindly loaning the camera to me) with the Sony 16-35mm f2.8 lens.
I used a Godox AD200 to back light the model and a Godox V860 in the MagBox Pro 24″ Octa to front light the model.

Great pictures ! I have a question, though : what is the reason for these ambiant light settings 1/800s – iso 400 ? Why don't you keep a low iso (100) and 1/200s ? Ambiant exposure would remain identical with a better image quality but I might miss something…
How do you remove helen from picture ?
Looks amazing but I'd definitely try even a wider lens and shoot closer😊 something like 12 or 14mm

Hey Neil question ? Have you try using the new trigger from godox x3 ? I notice that although I don’t need hss I still need to put hss on the trigger to use hss on the a9iii not sure if that makes sense .
