I have a question about the Loomis method, specifically when the face is turned toward a front angle. After cutting the sides of the sphere, what is the correct place to start the jaw (or the place where the jaw begins) in the Loomis method?

My problem is that i can detect flaws very fast and make me think its bad,not perfect
A method that I really like to use is to get a reference picture of my phone ho to fliters and add the sketch or shadow filter, this helps with following my shadows in drawing and getting an idea on how I will start and shade my lines.
Every time I do a portrait the person look completely different somehow.. 😭
You know Jeff over the years I have been very objective about my drawings.
For some reason I was never satisfied with the end result and would end up tearing it apart..
Friends would tell me to stop doing that,
But to,me it was not what I wanted to achieve in my drawing,,,
Yes I hated that feeling.

You miss another important starting point for beginners: COPY, copy, copy a lot from the masters, until you will have consciousness about the fundamentals. This was the first advice that i received in my Art-School since was 15

I can't draw faces with a different perspective than the front one and side profile.
A face that's slightly looking at the side is tough and I constantly mess up proportions.

As a beginner it's easy to delve too deeply into words instead of getting on with learning with my hands and eyes.
Im a 15yr ild that is wanting to start charcoal drawings and i only know how to draw anime and i want to learn how to do realistic drawings so this video was really good to see thank you for this advice i will learn to draw better over time

Now Iam slowly getting hang of it and progressing slowly, as you told in the video I am able to look at my work and tell what could be better but I still have the will to keep trying

this video is great it had helped me so much in drawing in just a few minutes thank you so much! it had really changes my perspective on how to draw portraits, as before i used to intesly focus on details like the eyes and mouth making my drawings look not so good. But after this video it has made my drawings look more eqaul in features.
Thank you! Im a first year art student, and i was so excited to be able to sit down and do studies, taught by professionals, but they don’t do anything like that; it’s all self learning. They give you a project (“do a charcoal self portrait. Come back in a week.”), and you do it. Of course I had to be ‘good enough’ to actually get in, but I feel like I can’t progress past good enough without teaching like this.
Just the inspiration I needed. I was the kid who could draw and even got a degree in graphic design & illustration. I ended up spending the next 28 years as a UX designer in software. It’s been a wonderful career, and I’m immensely grateful for it. I’ve been doodling and sketching again for the first time in eons though, and it feels great. You’ve inspired me to continue to reconnect with my original passion. Thank you—and truly beautiful work, Jeff.

This is all true! Out there are so many methods! And it's very overwhelming 😢and many videos promoting some books… It's so confusing! I starter to read the Loomis Method, I want to read it, but at the end, I choose my decision if what method are more convenient for me ❤ many thanks for the advice 😇
