Lighting full body portraits in the studio can quickly become difficult if you try to light the entire subject evenly.
In this video I break down the exact setup I use to create clean, dimensional full body portraits using a layered lighting approach.
Instead of flattening the subject with multiple direct lights, we build the lighting in layers:
• A smaller key light to create structure and shape
• A large fill light placed farther from the subject to lift the scene without removing contrast

Great Video
Love how you work with the depth and shadows details
Thanks for the info! Question: Maybe the incorrect fill was just too bright?
This is first time hearing about this technique. Thanks a lot
Thank you so helpful. You’re the only person explaining this
Bro thanks u!
So you have your camera setup at f5.6, you meter you key to f5.6 and just brought down the key light to 1/3 of a stop ? And you meter your fill to f5.6 or brought it up to 1/3 of a stop ?
for the fill light, is it ok if I use the kind of modifier thats on the keylight? so both lights would have a regular soft box?
How can I achieve this in run and gun situation specially in wedding photography.
first time I'm seeing your videos and I've been looking for comparisons exactly like this for weeeeks.. incredibly helpful for a beginner, ty!!
What focal length did you use and did you darken the background of the layered one (4:47) in post production? Great video!
Thank you so much for your valuable tips .
Incorrect fill looks good man lol
do you think the same 7feet umbrella alone would have done the same job?
Awesome.
This was sooo helpful! I've been wondering how to light a full body evenly like that. 👏🏼
Compartilha o arquivo raw com o pessoal pra verem a magia de como fica a foto 😀
06:11 Magnifique 😳😳😳 Good job!
Why isn’t the background color white? How to white
Question there is another content creator named Brandon Cole. He created a modifier called The Black Dish and I am wondering if you have ever used this modifier and what's your opinion on it. I ask because you show images SOOC where his images are post work. I am a fan of your lighting techniques and wanted to know how I can incorporate this modifier into my work with an unbiased opinion.
Kindly slow down when talking during teaching please
I am a fan and I appreciate your efforts
Thank you bro
excellent
Very helpful. Thank you 😌🙏🏽
Thank you!
thank you
Def needed this one. Quite often I work with just one light, and quite often I have the bottom part darker for the full body shots.
Awesome tips, video, and art.
Respect bro ! From Azerbaijan <3
Must be the best video out there about 2 light setup in the studio
Awesome video!
Found you channel with this video. Beautiful shots, model and presentation! Wonderful video. Thank you, sir.
amaazing model
Wow is that a tiny model or are you huge
But…. you darkened the background in post in the layered light shot..? Not really a light setup tutorial if you're manipulating the light in post
Thanks for this. I learnt something new
amazing work as always
This is very informative 🙂
