Video’s worth thousand words ❤! I am getting started with photography business in Canada.
Forza Giulia !!!!!!! Bellissima e sorridente come sempre
I'm older now and semi-retired, but here is another idea! I have had great success with Maternity Photography. This gave me opportunities to also photograph their newborns, and blossomed into 1yr Smash Cake Sessions and Family Sessions. For newborns I studied extensivily, practiced with dolls (and friends newborns), bought numerous props, baskets and bows and set up a studio space in a spare room of my house. I was booked 90% of the time with maternity/newborn and 10% with family and/or senior sessions to fill in the down time.
i am a hobbyist since 2008 and didn't try to get into pro photography, at least not yet. nonetheless, i am pretty sure i'd rather eat my camera than shooting weddings. i am 37 years old, i attended only two weddings, and one of them was my cousin's. i hate wedding so much that i didn't even attend my best friend's wedding.
I'm tryna do more fashion campaigns but hard to find consistent clients
Yea I don't wanna do weddings also
Hey Julia! Thanks for sharing this. I am building a portfolio, mainly on Instagram. I like your tip of networking, which I could do more of. What are some good ways to network? I’d love to see more videos on how to make money from portraits. Maybe a video on how to do this part time? You’re amazing! Keep up the good work!
I’m finding that when you take portraits especially models you don’t earn money, the model gets paid. Um
hey… Best motovlogging with volgging cameras …. idea suggestion me & i love your videos ❤😊
Amazing video. Thanks sister for sharing ❤
Weddings…..NO
Great video, thanks.
As a portrait photography expert, what are the ideal and best lenses for portrait photography, studio photography, celebrity photography, actors and singers?
Great advice
Came at a perfect time 🙏🏻
Anyone have any experience getting into ecommerce fashion photography?
In Poland (and I think Europe in general) pet photography is very very popular! Especially dogs. Some people go for very artistic dog portraits (like Alicja Zmyslowska) or more lifestyle, candid sessions with dogs during casual walks in nature. And sometimes pets are really their only focus in photography, there are entire workshops here only about dog photography. Most people are starting by photographing their own dog 😀
☺️💛💛
Excellent video thanks for this.
I own the Nikon D5500 alongside the following lenses: Sigma 17-70mm F2.8-F4, Nikon 50mm F1.4, Nikon 85mm, Youngnou 35mm F2, Youngnou 50mm F1.8 and Tamron 18-200mm.
I have been using these lenses for street photography and street portraits for friends who are singers.
But I would like to charge an hourly rate for street portrait sessions.
As a portrait photographer, if you had to choose one lens for portrait photography, what would it be?
Hi… Ma'am.
I'm looking for Sony Camera
Which one is best Sony a7 IV vs Sony a7c ii?
Julia I have outdated equipment so how? I mean I use Canon 90D EOS DSLR with Canon EF and Efs lens ?
This turned out to be “How to Make Money on Photography”
Oh Julia, your videos have made me a full-time professional photographer! Just kidding.
Have you tried the Sony 300mm for portrait photography yet? I’m thinking about buying one for outdoor portraits.
Funeral photographer. Niche, but it’s a thing. Kind of a cross between event and family photos.
Networking is real. I know successfull photographer with so basic skill, they secret are relation to rich/influence peoples.
Super interesting!!
Hmmm, I feel like something's missing here… still, nice round-up. And I remember that quote from one great late Guitar-Player called Paco de Lucía, who correspondingly said more or less that his work consists of 90% perspiration and 10% inspiration.

This is so helpful Julia thank you so much for your advices <3
I think the tip to be an assistant would be the most helpful. To see how someone runs their business and learn from them. That would be exciting!
Good luck!
i cant seem to local clients much, how to do you get yourself out there locally? i even have advertisement on my car.
How to get clients for me is always a struggle to get clients to book me 😢
So nice to see your colab with luminar neo application . As a fan of your work flow & style, you are the best.
Love this style of video! 👏👏👏
When is someone going to take portraits of you? You know you are beautiful
Thanks for these helpful reminders Julia! Love hearing an accent from back home – greetings from Montreal Canada 🙂
Thanks, I have a question: when you do portrait sessions with models like the ones in your videos, who pays who? Both parties have to be payed right, so do you simply split the revenue you get from the video? This has been a head-scratcher for me for a long time.
Also, I’m considering just knocking on doors (businesses) and offer to take portraits of their employees for their websites etc. Kinda daunting, but suppose it could work?
Did you ever make a video about using flashes? I’d love to hear your opinion on the current market and how often you use it for headshots.
Hi Ms. Trotti, been following since the Yashica 635. These are the best kind of informative videos. You are so helpful and are in the right place during this era
