In this photography tutorial, I shoot two portrait photoshoots, one in a studio with flash lighting and the other mixing ambient light with flash in an environmental portrait using the Hasselblad X2D Medium Format camera and the lightweight portrait kit.

Wow – what an incredible channel! There's plenty of gear focused videos out there on the internet, and there's also some good motivated lighting stuff but rarely do they combine the details of why you are choosing to shoot in a certain and very intentional way. It's usually either quite washy as to why the lighting and positioning choices are made or it's all about the gear and technical details but this is probably the best blend I have ever seen and the images are just phenomenal too. Instant sub!

Brilliant video. So good to see a pro at work and the shots – both how they were taken and the results, are phenomenal. I don't do portraits, so I bought the earlier kit, the Adventure Light Field Kit, X2D, XCD 45p, XCD 4/21 which is AMAZING! The firmware update (v2.0) added live histogram as well as focus peaking and a number of other great things. The X2D is just wonderful. Thanks for another super video.

Beautiful work! I also own the X2D. I'm primarily a landscape photographer, but have my first studio portrait session tomorrow. I'm a little confused as to how I will set up my focus point in-camera. Could you please elaborate just a bit as to how you set up your focus point in the camera?
