Hey everyone! Today we are comparing iPhone 17 Pro to a professional camera at a portrait photoshoot. I will be testing all the main cameras the iPhone 17 Pro has including 1x, 2x, .5x, 4x and portrait mode and comparing it to the photos my professional camera takes at the equivalent focal length. Not only are we comparing photo, but we will be comparing video too! I will be testing cinematic mode and ProRes to the log footage of my camera. Let me know what you think in the comments!

The video tells real pro camera are miles ahead when compared to the false pro cameras! The edge detection on the portrait mode on iPhone needs another 5 generations of refinement.
iPhone is not bad camera
People love their phone cameras until you show them what real cameras can do.
A low-light comparison would be nice. all type of sensors perform well in good light conditions.
Can you do a video on your video camera rig and how you shoot in video mode
its actually crazy how usable the iPhone photos are … model slayed!!!
I think starting from this model, as it has a good zoom and overall quality, it's a good alternative to compact cameras, that were able to offer some better quality compared to phones previously, but now if you own this phone, you anyway always have it with you, so good for travel, or when you don't want to carry your big serious camera and all gear.
The fake bokeh around the hair from the iPhone is still painful to watch 😱

The Sony is much more fun to do se than a smartphone. But the iPhone results are still very good.

I'm surprised that portrait mode on iPhone is not creamier. Looks like a cheap 85mm f/1.8. Perhaps there is a setting on the iPhone to make it simulate a wider aperture.

Problem with many new generation SONY mirrorless cameras is that the videos shot with these cameras cause a much more eye strain leading to swollen and puffy under eyes…
It has something to do with the way phase detect autofocus system works, especially in "wide focus area" mode.. and also due to the way multi metering mode and subject detection is configured…

Always that orange face from the iPhone. I hate that 🙂↔️.
For us who love to use dedicated cameras, we will prefer the images from the Sony. But lets be honest to ourself, the average person will not care about the difference. They will see some differences, yes, but it's not relevant to them. It is simply good enough and you can get those results with other smartphone companies, too. Not always in the entrylevel region, but in some years it will be normal.
