Lumix 24-60mm f2.8 Review Portrait Photoshoot

Lumix 24-60mm f2.8 Review Portrait Photoshoot

Photos edited with my new Wildfern preset pack and Havana preset pack:

Hey everyone! Lumix also quietly dropped a new lens last week amongst 2 new camera bodies. I wanted to do a separate video for this lens as there is a lot to take a look at and talk about here, especially considering there are already at least 2 standard zoom lens options for Lumix L-mount at the moment. Let me know what you think of the lens and photoshoot in the comments! We had such a cool street to work with today with those beautiful roses and super moody lighting.

Your portrait work at F2.8 makes me feel foolish for thinking I need the smallest possible f-stop. There’s always something to take away from your videos!

I was wondering if you have, or plan on reviewing the Sigma 28-45mm f1.8? Would love to see your take on the lens!

It didn't have to be a "pro" lens, they could have just made this the 20-60 II.

This lens was released at a good time. Not many good, small zoom lenses on L-mount. Contemplating this for my Sigma BF

I agree, if this was 20-60 2.8 I would have been more drawn to it as I love the kit lens focal range.

This is the camera (S1rII) as a photographer I want, also, this lens. As a filmmaker, my dream camera is the S1II. Actually I have a S5II

The bokeh and rendering is really nice, reminds me of a Nikon lens where there's good smooth separation with that 3D look. It looks like the 24-70mm S Pro lens but without the weight or cost. Well done Lumix. Also Sydney weather cmon! ugh.

Thanks a lot for your review! I would by that if I did not already have the Sigma 24-70mm 2.8II 😶 This Sigma is so perfect in my opinion (sharpness, contrast, bokeh for a 2.8). Is there really no loss except for the 10mm in your practical experience?

Also, the fact that this matches the size of Panasonic's 16-35mm f4 (and Sirui's 85mm 1.4) is something I'll have to think about.

Thanks so much, Julia, for continuing to give Lumix some love. I have the Sigma 28-70/2.8; it would be interesting to see a comparison between that lens and the Lumix 24-60/2.8. BTW, I’m loving my S1RII!

Great video! On a side note, this video reminded me of the fact that L-mount has no interesting telezooms (as in: not huge, heavy and overpriced) is one of the factors that keep me from returning to Panasonic. The only decent one is (as usual in L mount) Sigma's and it weighs 1,3 kgs (almost 3 pound) and costs 1500 – 1700 Euros.

This is a lens that I did not consider until I saw this video. The size & weigh is impressive, and the design goals reminds me of the tiny Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 for APS-C. Thank you for the enlightening video Julia!!

Hey Julia, great video! I always enjoy watching your reviews.
I was hoping you could shed some light on the rolling shutter issues with the new Lumix S1R II. When investing such a hefty price, it's totally unfair to encounter such problems, and that's precisely why I thought Lumix launched the S1 II with its partially stacked sensor, specifically to address concerns like rolling shutter and generally offer faster readout speeds.
Could you provide an update or your insights on how the S1R II is performing in real-world scenarios regarding Rolling Shutter, especially compared to the S1 II? It's a critical factor when considering a high-end camera.
