Nikkor 300mm f/4E Pf Ed | Portrait Photography Review

In This video I review the Nikkor 300mm f/4e pf ed for portraits using my Nikon d850. I absolutely love shooting with long focal length I enjoy the unique look that a long focal lengths provides. I really want to give you my perspective and opinion on this 300mm f4e pf ed shooting portraits. I know that this lens is primarily used for sports and wildlife photography. But it’s also a great portrait lenses.

I've had this lens and I say, there's no real world advantage of it being a pure portrait lens compared to a Sigma 135 f1.8 or even a Sigma 85 f1.4 as far as subject isolation goes, in fact it is definitely objectively inferior in every aspect (bokeh rendering, sharpness wide open, color cast, overall character) ..The long focal length doesn't quite nail it due to the f4 aperture, .use it exclusively for wildlife and sports paired with a crop body and you'll be happy.

Nice images… but everything is too static. Introduce some movement into some of the images to liven things up a bit.

Great video. Nice to see it used on people, not just birds :-). Thanks for doing this!

Some good stuff in this video…you worked with the model well. I really liked the shots at 5:45. Colors are spot on.

Great video review and fantastic results although I don’t think that was just the lens and the photographer and the model may have contributed 👏

Great shots but I'm wondering how far were you from the model to shoot? Also hope you can show some portrait shots with just natural lighting using this lens as well. Cheers! Awesome shots

Thanks for the video. I just bought this lens for portrait work. Used to use my 300 2.8 but I want to trim down my location kit and this lens fits the bill, looks real nice shooting wide open

Well I went with the Sigma 105 mm F1.4 art lens over the 300mm PF lens like you recommended. And I am so happy with the image results with my Nikon Z5 and Z6. It is my new favorite lens. The first day I shot with it I took the best portraits I have taken in my career. I want to thank you for your advice aunt how quickly you respond to my questions. It’s the little YouTube channels I value their opinion more than any of the big names. I would love to show you my work if there is a way I can tag you on Instagram to show you. Do you have an Instagram link? Great videos as always love this channel
