Try not go below 1/60th. Low f numbers are tricky with portraits.
The razor thin focal plane on full frame at wide apertures is actually why I moved over to micro four thirds. I can get f/1.4 light with f/2.8 depth of field and better IBIS than full frame.
Also easier on the back at like half the weight, haha.
Focus and light is sometimes tricky. When the sun is not stable I have found my self taking photos that are over exposed.

Thanks for this valuable info. But, I have another concern. I've seen Tony use a Canon 5DSr for portrait shots. I've been shooting real estate for decades and I also shoot machinery & equipment as well as some products. I'd like to start shooting portraits and am considering the purchase of a 5DSr, but I'm concerned about motion blur when shooting because most people do move ever so slightly. What's your experience with motion blur (in the eyes, facial features…) and would shooting on a tripod at a high shutter speed (e.g. 1/125 at ISO 100 with a Canon 85mm f/1.8 USM lens at f/4.0) eliminate that problem?
yeah i move too much when try to take photos also.
If the near eye is in focus then the shot is in focus. If the near eye is out of focus then the shot is out of focus. It a matter or human perception.

Actually on my tests I have found that wide open aperture with ISO 100 isn't as good as something like F5.6 with ISO 600. Lenses wide open loose sharpness, even L lenses. Most photography tests reveal that F8 is always better than F3.5 If you have a 6D which has really good noise reduction built in, then it's better to go for higher ISO. In fact without cropping, I find that higher ISO looks sharper up to ISO 1000, only noticeable when zoomed in 100%
The exception is if you have a prime lens, like a 50mm f1.8 which you want to shoot in mostly for the art style.
An other point that should be talked about in this video (maybe you did on an other one idk) is Back/front focusing from lenses, on some cameras like the rebel series with canon you are kinda screwed if your lens have that but on some you can deal with it micro adjustements on the camera. On mirrorless cam. no issue here
i recommend people to check what it is if they feel like they do everything the right way and still get blurry images.
Excellent video. Very funny together in a good way you two very good watching both of you totally honest and casual. Tony moved like a bobble head doll jiglling his head also funny. That is what love is being casual and accepting with each other. I've been doing nighttime street photo shoots no flash and ISO 6400 and F4 and 1/25 second of slower or faster depending on the street lights around.
