Check out how Adam and I edit this weeks RAW Edit 51, we both choose to crop it but one of us goes a little tighter than the other. It is funny how we all see things differently, some people will like my edit others will like Adams and the truth is no one is right or wrong. You never know how people will see your image and the best advice is to stick to your guns, you will find people who dig your work as well as people who seriously hate it.
The fun part about choosing other photographers RAW FILES is you get to see their interpretation of the final image. It is always interesting to see how Adam and my edit shape up against the photographers edit.
This weeks photo was taken by Adam Rosenberg but we have something different as a final edit, its his painting. Thats right its a real deal oil painting. As you can see, Adam did a major crop of his own image to what he thought was the main focus. I really love what he was able to create. The color may not be exact as he did a quick snap in RAW of course and had me process it.

One thing that I've found that helps with cropping in LR is double tapping the 'L' key to black out all of the screen except for the crop. Really helps me see what I want while cropping.

Jared, I am learning so much from your posts and videos. I'm just now getting into photography and have so much to learn. I find I am learning a ton from you and appreciate your time and effort. Like like Adam Lerner's edit the most. I feel with Jared's the shirt and table cloth is blown out, you lose detail. Also lost some detail in the glass. Love the Vignette though, but I would love to see how a graduated filter from the bottom would also look.

If you didn't want to crop, couldn't you of simply used the spot removal tool to get rid of the objects on the side of the frame?
It seems that there is enough of the same textures around those objects to replace them.
