I think all the early pictures you showed were good. It is good that you are hard on yourself, because it drives you to grow. But I do not think there was anything bad with your early pictures. I am saying this not as an expert (I am not), but as someone who enjoys looking at photographs.

I don't think looking back is embarassing at all! No matter what we do, we start as a beginner. Only the people who are willed to acknowledge that and push past it by learning and getting better, will eventually become really good at what they are doing. So, be proud of how good you became, instead of embarassed of where you came from! Thank's for the great videos and the valuable tips you hand out for free! 👍

Thank you Laura, for sharing these very personal and vulnerable experiences. Makes it so much more relatable. Actually, your first edit reminded me of some pictures I edited two years ago and I barely can look at now. So thanks for this encouraging story to also appreciate how far one has already come!

Wow! You reminded me of myself a couple of months ago when I got invited to shoot one of the candidates for this year's Miss Universe and a fashion show (Arab Fashion Week in Dubai). I was so sick that day and I almost passed out after shooting the models backstage and then waiting with the other photographers for the show to start. I had to take painkillers for the fever to go down. I was wearing a mask to keep everyone around me safe but I was suffocating 😅. Still, the results were incredible and they loved my work and now I'm working with them every now and then.

Hi Laura! Thank you for exposing yourself in such a sweet and sincere way!
If that makes any sense to you, I want to be truly honest and tell you that I disagree with your decision not to cancel the job or better find a replacement. It is clear that you think you did right but I believe you have formed this opinion based on the the happy results for your health. If you had lost your kidney, today's topic would be more like "how not to treat your body as consumable". Opportunities arise all the time in an industry that cares little about us. Sorry to upset you with my comment. Still love you!

Laura! I was a pretty hot illustrator when I left art college. After a couple of years I got fed up with only having to use a portion of my talent to command high prices. I decided to quit commercial work to be an artist… it took me six years to find my voice as an artist. I made the worst crap imaginable to get there but I went to the studio every day. I’m now an internationally acclaimed artist. Anything you really are passionate about can be achieved if you refuse to give up.

No. 1.background is too busy, apart from the colours. 2, subject doesn’t tell a story. 3, busy, needs wider aperture to blur background. 4&5 agreed background. 6, what is the subject? 7, improving

Wow I loved the pic of you with the guitar – your wild eyes were my favourite part! 😉 It's funny how we all perceive things differently – another reason not to get down on yourself about your work -what you might think sucks somebody else might love.

Its very refreshing to watch your videos, I suck with editing and you got me interested in stockphotography. There is a bigger learning curve to become better than earning money. Thank you for your humor, learning and listening is so much easier then.

Great topic Laura – What I love about art – It is all based on the eye of the beholder. There are professional photographers that I really dislike how they edit their photos. But they have done very well in the art world. And I am sure there are people out there that like your earlier stuff better. But I love your point about a person going back in time and seeing what you did and reflecting – and how you feel you have improved your own personal style and then always looking for ways to move forward.

Perfect timing on this video. I have been looking back at my photos from 2 or 3 years ago and it is gratifying to see improvement. And where I can continue to improve in both photos and video. I like the NY baseball guy photo. To my eye (on a small screen) it looks right. Color is muted, image is sharp and gritty. To me it's a style of street photography that captures the emotion, the rough and tumble of NY. Keep up the great work! So glad I found your channel. ¡Abrazos y besos grandes!

Laura! Thank you for being vulnerable with your early work. This video was super encouraging, because it shows that it’s possible to work and keep improving. And your willingness to be open just makes me respect you even more for being so relatable. As you say, Big Love!! 🥰

When I look at my old photo's and slides, a question I ask myself, what could I have done to make the image better and even now it is a question I ask myself. There are images that I have taken in the past that I wouldn't change a thing.

Laura i love you 😁. An honest photographer who keeps it funny & REAL. I don't know of any other who shows their early photos, they only show what they think is their better & say you to can do this. Yes you tell/show us how to & your photos are great, but we all come along on the journey with you, thanks again Kevin. ps i struggle with editing 🤣
