Got lucky and got a nikon d80 for only £70 last year when i was just getting started, second hand ofc but came with a lense worth around £100-£130 for only $70 including the body and thats all i have really needed for now next thing im going to get will probably be a tripod any mabye a new lens soon for street photography

Yo, this idea, but for the next year ahead? I mean come on as 'professionals' we know what's coming and going. People getting into the hobby would be more likely to search for that year or the next year's technologies. Them types be crutch. Lovely helpful tips that would help Amy beginner a year before. This is a great video. The problem I've been having is that every video seems to assume I want to become obsessed with photography just because I'm interested in buying a camera. I don't have any specific interest in photography, I just want better pictures of me and my family. My Galaxy phone's pictures have flat coloring, poor focus, frequently blurry, and just don't pop the way I want them to. I don't want to get an iPhone because I don't support Apple's business model (and I have similar thoughts about Google and the Pixel). I'm hoping to be able to buy myself better results by buying a camera and whatever gear, because pictures (NOT the art of photography, just the pictures themselves) matter a lot to me. Maybe that's unrealistic, and if I want better results, I'd have to either learn about photography or pay for a photographer. It just seems like if you want to get any sort of camera, there is such a big learning curve. I'm willing to spend some money, but there is a steep learning curve before I can even understand whether I'd get consistently better pictures than from my Galaxy if I don't devote myself to photography or spend many thousands of dollars.
I'm going through those stages and have been back and forth between Sony a7 IV and Canon R6 II…now R6 III is imminent.

And very interesting choice on the lenses. I personally would have suggested to just slightly increase the budget to be able to include the Tamron 17-70. For the prime lense I'd have, depending on the budget, suggested either the Sigma 16 or 35 Contemporary as these are the most versatile focal lengths. Or if the person seeking my advice is up for portrait photography and seeks the challenge: The 85mm Viltrox.

So far ive heard, A6000 series of Sony are a good bunch to start with. What about their compatibility with third party lens?? Like sigma , Tamron, etc .
You can also start with less. Just pick one lens and learn photography you can do with that lens.. then you'll know better which lens you need next

I'm not sure that the very epensive lens makes as much sense as the Sony A6000 camera body. Surely you could get something "good enough" for less? You then wouldn't be struggling to buy a decent bag.

I do not like the a6000 because no mic input and no 4K plus AF has been improved. My suggestion is to buy from a top notch retailer like MPB and start with the Sony a6400 – $619USD + Sony 16-70mm f/4 – $339 – This is a very small package.
Really you need to do your research a lot better the first Sony mirrorless cameras where the nex 5 and nex 3 back in May 2010 I changed from the Fuji S1 pro to the original nex 5 which was only 14.2 megapixel
I changed from my nex6 and nex7 to the Fuji X-T1 fully when I sold them just over 12 months ago to buy the Fuji X-T30 ii so I only had one main mount to consider rather than keep with both the Fuji and the Sony.
Is Sony Alfa ILCE-5000 also a vaiable option as a first camera in 2024?

I brought the a6000 brand new, 3 years ago for about 400 dollars, it caned with the kit lens. Now I have two Sigma lenses, 18-50 F2. 8 and the 56 mm f 1.4 and I am more than pleased 😊
Bs. New photographer likes and should experiment with all sort of photos and subjects. Getting old apsc camera means you are stuck doing the thing that all camera brands and models including a phone can do which is photos in uninspiring bright sunny daylight. This is what exactly happened to me, i bought my first camera i experimented a lot, i decided i love water scapes magical long exposure water, easy to do since i am surrounded by 15 lakes, i discovered i loved night sky shots with interesting subjects against starry night sky. . . . . and then i discovered my budget DSLT-a55 at that point is the worst possible choice for the subject matter, as it not only drops 0,7stops of light due to translucent mirror thing it also produces horrible rainbow-puke noise with anything above 800iso, i.e literal waste of money.
My recommendation is: get yourself full frame camera, and a full frame lens. Stick to one manufacturer, use mirror-less as to avoid expensive adapter bonanza later on.
Get Samyang 35-150mm f2.0-2.8 or equivalent as it will literally cover most uses including prime portraiture, maybe additionally manual focus Samyang 16mm f2 as it is cheap as peanuts and amazing if u do any astro photos or wide landscapes. Then ANY 28+ megapixel full frame used camera that these lenses are build for. I went for A7r II because i found one with like 5000 shot mileage for 600bucks.
This setup will guarantee you can do absolutely anything from beautiful milky way shots to boring weddings and wild animals. While it is more on an expensive side, it will guarantee you no surprises like suddenly trading all lenses for full frame or dealing with expensive active adapters, or figuring out your gear is physicaly incapable of producing the image you want.
Brand of your camera does not matter at all. Pick one that speaks to you. Most sensors in the world are produced by Sony, samsung, and canon, most cameras use these, all thats different is software trickery which you will fix anyway in post production as long as the photo isnt beyond saving.
