Somebody pinch me, my yin yang dance portrait won a gold award!! Come behind the scenes with me to see how I did it. I entered this portrait in the Opposites category in the Portraits Masters international awards and accreditation program. Not only did I win a Gold Award, but I won the category!!

This is an incredible honor and I couldn’t be more excited. Out of nearly 11,000 portrait submissions, only about 20 portraits scored above 90 out of 100 points to earn a Gold Award. I am so grateful to Sue Bryce and her team for creating such an awesome competition and the opportunity to share my passion for creative photography!
In this video I’m going to show you how I styled, photographed and edited this ballerina portrait.
I was very fortunate to have Shae Lennon as my model for this photoshoot. You can follow her really cool ballet Instagram account at Zhenya.ballerina. She is an extremely talented young ballerina and dances at Ballet Etudes in Mesa, Arizona. This elite dance school has a reputation for training incredible dancers.
I used my Canon EOS R and Canon EF 24-70mm 2.8 lens. I love this camera and lens combination.
