If they did the 3D picture from Blade Runner (original movie), with snake 'ripper, I'd be like SU&TM$$$.
Cool
Prey moment
In-q-Tel funded Looking Glass Labs. Stop shilling for three letter agencies, it’s a bad look.
You're shilling for the CIA.
If they scaled it up to 20 inch, I'd use it as a gaming monitor. ^_^
2:22 They're using a Raspberry Pi? Wow!
I would LOVE to see a dnd game table with this tech, that would actually be a dream
I dont need it but i want it!
4:48 there seems to be a ghosty image in the rear once you get beyond a certain viewing angle – is this a reflection off the back side of the fake illuminated front screen thing? If so would it not just be better without that?
hdmi input? can it play crysis?
Someone call James Cameron!
re: number of views, from the Looking Glass website: "While you can have an theoretically infinite amount of images in a light field photoset, there are diminishing returns above 45 views. Generally, there is a small difference between 45 and 99 views in that items that are further away from the focal plane of the Looking Glass display will appear slightly sharper, but it is very minimal. For most cases, we'd recommend 45 views, but feel free to experiment!"
So surprised nobody mentioned 3D video calls? Lol
Hm, costs more than an Oculus Quest but does only show stills while the Quest gives a FULL 3D VR experience all around you.
So did I miss something? 😐
Lay it on its back and somehow hook it up to a game so you get a 3D top view of a level. Like a demo mode of command and conquer as the AI's battles itself.
This would be good in a sim cockpit.
Isn't this like the display panels in the game Prey, but for real?
Is there software that would allow me to manually create 'layers' in that photo which would artificially create a sense of 3 dimensional depth that I could display on this new Holographic Display?
I think it's through infinity mirror pattern possibly hmm
Needs one… no.
Wants one… OH YES!
do i need it ? no. do i want it, so that i can use it as a fourth monitor for like a terminal or smth similar? YES..
I don't really need that, but it's so freakin cool 😀
If I had money, I'd always use these instead of traditional photos
They need to make an 8"×10".
I could see this for an upgrade for home devices like alexa and such. Just imagine everyone with their own personal cortana.
iwl buy that if i have spare money
It’ll become true hologram when the viewing cone is 360 degrees
THIS is what the 3DS could’ve been
It is the opposite side of the light cameras Kodak did.
Hmmmm a home assistant dashboard with that should be AWESOME
I just released holographic gaming for free on all Looking Glass Portraits. Support for over 500 games, all free and open source. Video is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-iyzyBFLNA
can it run standalone?
Well shit. Thats in fact creepy and reminds me when i was a kid at Disney…the woman in the crystal ball…and people think this tech is new.
This things really cool and I really wanna get one for my daughters mom for Christmas, but it's just too damn expensive. It's not worth $400 lol I wouldn't pay more than 150
I would like this tech module, but yeah that CPU requirement is a bit tough for this enthusiast.
i dont need it. i simply want it XD imagine this becoming like athing with like big ol frames like future artpeaces 3D van Gogh on ya wall.
a small tamagotchi like pet would be great with this =)
This looks really cool to bad it costs 20k to buy it.
audio issues?
Please get someone to proofread the subtitles before submitting them
I personally would love to have one of these. But for me personally it would just be a cool picture frame and for this kind of application it is too expensive for me. But I saw some comments for people thinking that it could be a great addition to their work and I think it really can shine there.
If this got to the size of computer monitors it would revolutionize working from home
Soo thin?!! Strap it on my iphone already!
I need this with an anime avatar personal assistant
huge potential with NFT
I just received mine today and it is pretty damn cool. I've been a 3D fan since anaglyph and lenticular 3D and the 1st laser holograms. I see tons of potential for this. And it does include one waifu in the demo and there are already several new models/animations available through the community. So that I know will make some happy and give them an idea of what it possible. While not 'useful' to some it looks cool as a desk or shelf piece and has that animated pictures in Harry Potter magic to it. I got a lot of ideas that could really push this in marketability.
One thing he did not really mention was the trim light can be turned off and when it is it has a nicer depth effect since you do not see the white lines reflected like and grid line.
Try the 3d monitor from diantech
This is just the beginning, I hope. It might be a gimmick now, but this has huge potential to be the next display tech.
