If you did not see the prior video I did breaking down the “Blue Marble” 2026 vs 1972 Earth photos, you can check it out here:

Artemis II has beamed back images from the Moon and they are astonishing. They captured a modern day “Earthrise” very similar to that of the one captured in 1968. Now there are some differences, and I go over them in this video. The crew captured some truly amazing images of the moon, the moon and earth combined, and themselves via selfies.

I only had 90 seconds to get this portrait of Reid Wiseman (NASA)

Why does the earth look sooooo far away from the moon in some photos and then quite close as it should be? Hmmmm!

Great breakdown of some spectacular photos. They crushed it out there.

One note about the image of the moon at 6:34, the special part about it is that it shows part of the far side of the moon, the part we cannot see from earth as the moon is tidally locked meaning it always faces roughly the same way to us. So for a photographic standpoint, it is technically a very unique image of the moon!

You forgot to tell us about the greatest technology that we had in 1969 moon landing. NASA had the best cameras and film techniques that would operate on the moon at – 200 F the moisture in the cameras and film stock would not freeze. I miss the old days of all the magic stuff.

I think you're completely missing the point of the selfie. It's supposed to be causal, like a normal picture anybody would take with their friends here on earth. Thats why its taken with a cell phone, thats how normal people take selfies in 2026. Thats the point. They are just as human as us, despite being further from home than anyone ever. It's not emotionless researchers that orbited the moon, it's a part of humanity that did. That real, human quality of the photos would be lost if they decided to take the selfies with the best possible equipment. Sometimes photos (any art really) that are less technically impressive can evoke more emotion than those that are technically impressive 👍

Spends billions to go to space, saves money and borrows a cheap camera to take pictures.

All weightless, special-effects, action pictures were and are taken in a "Vomit Comet." Jared might be a highly paid asset.

didn't watch, but the fact they didn't take a 70mm camera on the mission is fucking pathetic, their(2026) pictures look like a first year highschooler in Photography class bad….

What I see is the pollution of now versus 68. I would like to see images not enhanced to show people what is really taking place. I have wondered for a long time if NASA has enhanced current pics in order to mask the changes in our atmosphere!

Hair-rise 2026 – The advise of a would be Nasa photo advisor. (because fro knows best)
Fro advise #1 – Do not let a little thing like scientific research in space distract you from taking the time to make a good selfie. Because selfies are Nasa's prime objective. I.E. the most important part of space travel.

I have a simple question nobody can answer, why they are taking pictures with a cheap off the shelf camera thru the thick glass windows, instead using the non existent multimillion dollar state of the art camera strapped to the chassis, is kinda amateur to me

The SpaceActors made a new SF movie for NASA… It's called: "Artemis II"
You know why they didn't land on the Moon this time?
They lost the technology they used in 1969… 😂😂😂

What's the difference? There were potentially 3.5 Billion people on Earth in 1968. There are 8.3 Billion in 2026!
And everybody wonders why the Rich are fighting over the OIL. 8.3 Billion is a lot of potential customers!
