Although this video concentrates on lighting I found a very interesting sequence that demonstrates another aspect of portrait photography, and I’d be interested on your take on the subject.
Many photographers maintain that a portrait should show the personality of the subject. As already mentioned in another comment, Onica “kills every shot”, but at 06:00 she shows her AMAZING smile, and her face simply lights up! I’m sure you’d have caught the moment if you’d been concentrating on posing and facial expression, but in the vast majority of the work I’ve found on social media the models keep a fairly straight face, and I don’t “feel” any personality emanating from the images. Some photographers even emphasize the need to get to know the model/subject, but I rarely see any difference in the results. This could well be because I’ve never met the models, and I’m therefore unable to recognise some aspects of their personality or their specific facial expressions. However, I believe a good image should be able to “stand on it’s own” (within limits).
It clearly doesn’t have to be a smile, and asking for a specific expression rarely works. On the other hand, in your next video on self-portraits you do actually smile yourself!
Do you generally leave the facial expression to the model or use any specific techniques to bring out the personality of a subject if that’s required from the session?

I keep a shower curtain on deck! Lol. I keep the hooks on it though so I can easily attach it to a boom arm and adjust it pretty easily.
